The "Silk Road" Chinese Government Scholarship Program is a scholarship provided by the Chinese Ministry of Education to selected Chinese institutions. It is used to fund these institutions to directly select and recommend outstanding students from countries along the "Belt and Road" to study in China, aiming to enhance mutual understanding and friendship between the Chinese people and people from around the world, and to develop cooperation and exchanges between China and other countries in the fields of education, science, culture, economy, and trade. This program is a full-time, full-coverage scholarship for international students funded by the Chinese government. The scholarship covers tuition fees, accommodation expenses, living stipend, and comprehensive medical insurance (international travel expenses are not included).

Five-year Bachelor's program of Traditional Chinese Medicine (taught in Chinese)

III. Scholarship Coverage

A full scholarship that covers tuition, accommodation, comprehensive medical insurance with monthly stipend (undergraduate students: CNY 2,500 per month).

IV. Eligibility

To be eligible, an applicant must:

1. Be a citizen of a country other than the PRC and in good health both mentally and physically;

2. Be an academically excellent holder of a high school diploma under the age of 25 when applying for a bachelor’s degree program;

3. Have acquired the Chinese proficiency of HSK (Level 4);

4. Meet the university's admission requirements in terms of academic ability and other relevant aspects (e.g., taking the CSCA professional Chinese and mathematics subject tests).

V. Application Process

1. Submit an application in the university's application system (http://apply.njucm.cucas.cn/) before May 15, 2026.

2. The university will award a Pre-admission Notice to the selected candidates.

3. The candidates shall complete an online application via the Chinese Government Scholarship Information System (http://studyinchina.csc.edu.cn/#/login).

Please upload the Pre-admission Notice issued by the university and other application documents in the system.

Please choose "Program Category Type B" and the Agency Number of Nanjing University of Chinese Medicine (NJUCM) is 10315.

Please submit online and download the Chinese Government Scholarship Application Form.

4. The university shall submit the recommended candidates list to the China Scholarship Council (CSC).

5. The CSC will organize experts concerned to examine applicants’ eligibility and academic performance before finalizing the short-list candidates.

6. The CSC will notify the admission results to the university that will subsequently have the applicants informed.

VI. Application Deadline

Submit an application in the university's application system (http://apply.njucm.cucas.cn/) before May 15, 2026.

VII. Application Documents

1. Copy of Passport Information Page. If the validity of the applicant's current passport does not meet the requirement (meaning the passport expires before May 2027), please apply for a new passport before submitting the application;

2. Notarized highest diploma. Prospective diploma winners must submit official proof of student status by their current school. Documents in languages other than Chinese or English must be attached with notarized Chinese or English translations;

3. Notarized copies of the academic transcripts. For undergraduate applications, a complete high school transcript and college entrance examination results (such as UEC, A-level, etc.) must be provided. These transcripts shall be issued and sealed by the attending university's academic affairs office, or student management department. They can be in Chinese or English, but must be attached with notarized English translations if they are in foreign languages other than English;

4. Language qualification certificates. Applicants for Chinese-taught programs must submit a valid HSK (Level 4) report.

5. A study plan written in Chinese or English. The study plan should be no less than 800 characters or words for undergraduate applicants.

6. Two recommendation letters. These letters shall describe the applicant's objectives of learning in China, comprehensive abilities, and evaluation of future growth.

7. A photocopy of the Foreigner Physical Examination Form completed in English or Chinese (the original copy shall be kept by the applicant).

The physical examinations must cover all of the items listed in the Foreigner Physical Examination Form. Incomplete records or those without the signature of the attending physician, the official stamp of the hospital, or a sealed photograph of the applicants are invalid. Please select the appropriate time to take a physical examination as the result is valid for only 6 months;

8. Non-criminal record report. The applicant shall submit a valid certificate of Non-Criminal Record issued by the local public security authority, usually issued within 6 months prior to the submission date of the application;

9. China Scholastic Competency Assessment (CSCA ) Score Report;

10. Other supporting materials.

Reminder: Uploaded application documents must be clear, authentic and valid. Applicants are recommended to use a professional device to scan the relevant documents. Applicants shall bear the consequences caused by unclear or unidentifiable uploaded materials.

VIII. Other Information

1. Scholarship recipients shall not receive other freshman scholarship offered by the Chinese government, local governments or institutions at the same time.

2. Scholarship recipients shall not change their host university, major, or duration of study stipulated on the Admission Notice.

3. Scholarship will not be reserved if scholarship recipients cannot register before the registration deadline.

4. Scholarship recipients shall attend the annual review according to the NJUCM Annual Evaluation Measures for Chinese Government Scholarship at the end of each academic year.
